Industrial Undergraduate Student Research Award (CAN)

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)

Summary

The Industrial Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) is from NSERC’s Training in Industry program. It provides opportunities for companies to hire top undergraduate students quickly and easily.

Type of Assistance

The USRAs help companies hire up to 15 students per year, any time during the year and train potential future employees. The costs will be shared with NSERC; they will contribute $4,500 for a 12 to 16-week term.

Eligibility Criteria

Companies must:

  • be incorporated in Canada
  • be engaged in research and development (R&D) activities and have their own research facilities
  • provide students with relevant research experience
  • contribute $1,125 or more for up to a 16-week term

Note: Students must have a cumulative average of at least a second class standing (a grade of B or B- as defined by their university).

Applications for this award must be submitted by the student and the company. NSERC can help match companies that want to participate in this opportunity with a student. Applications are accepted year round with decisions made within one month.
